Welcome to Moth & Butterfly!
We are an Arts Collective based in the West of Ireland,
running Storytelling and Improv events since 2011.

ANNOUNCING: Moth & Butterfly at CÚIRT!

are celebrating 40 years this year, and as part of their celebrations, they have commissioned Moth & Butterfly Tellers to host not one, but FIVE storytelling events throughout the festival!

These five events run 9-13th of April 2025 at 4pm in Nun’s Island Arts Centre. You can book your tickets for each of the Moth & Butterfly shows directly here:

Each of the events will feature The Moth & Butterfly Tellers, Special Guests, and pre-selected Audience Tellers. Each invitee will receive two tickets to the event, along with a special memory thank you from both Moth & Butterfly and Cúirt on the night!

Would you like to share a story with us at Cúirt?

As these events are a little different to our regular nights, here’s what we are looking for:

-->Stories that fit each theme, whether personal or fictional.
-->A pitch for this one - just give a sentence or two!
-->Stories that connect to the Cúirt festival itself!

A reminder that all stories are told in the oral tradition vs read (even at Cúirt!) and are a maximum of 9 or 10 mins. Remember your story can be happy, sad, grumpy, whatever you like! Ideally with a personal story, it includes moment that changed you, or that shifted your world view.

What do I do if I want to submit a story idea?

Check out the dates and themes below, and see what inspires you. Send us an email with CUIRT SUBMISSION in the subject line (to mothandbutterflystories@gmail.com) by Friday 14th of March at 5pm (we will notify all selected tellers within the week).

Tell us the day and title (see below) you wish to tell at, and give us a brief synopsis of your story. You can pitch it for more than one day if it fits.

The themes for each day are as follows:

Wed 9th of April - Pen and Sword: Stories with a fight in them, Stories of mighty words.

Thursday 10th of April - Adaptations: Stories about Transformation, Stories about making something your own.

Friday 11th of April - Spell Check: Stories about mistakes, Stories about Magic.

Sat 12 of April - Prose and Cons: Stories about decisions, Stories about crime.

Sunday 13th of April - The Plot Thickens: Stories about the land, Stories with a twist.

We will hold a just couple of spots back for audience tellers of course, but a reminder that many of the Cúirt events (just like ours) sell out very quickly. So here is the booking link again:

We look forward to seeing you there!

THANKS A MILLION!
