Stories For Children – big and small
Three short online storytelling sets from tellers Catherine Brophy, Máirín Mhic Lochlainn and Órla Mc Govern. Hear about a young girl’s brilliant adventures, some sea monsters, and a moral tale (among others) The sessions include some bilingual tales (in Irish & English). You can also watch these stories via the Galway City Library channel.
Listening age: Family

Friday 4th of February – 3pm Launch:

The Story Trails – Galway 
Two outdoor story experiences, located in County Galway, Ireland, where attendees can visit the locations and listen to the stories via a location app on their smartphones. The stories are told by Órla Mc Govern &  Midie Corcoran, with original music by Sinéad Hayes. One piece is in The Claddagh, and another atop  Knockma, Co. Galway. 
These stories may also be experienced from anywhere in the world, via the interactive website.
Listening age: At the discretion of participants. Self-guided live/online event.

The Things We Do For Love – An Open Call
We need more love stories in the world. Even the sad ones!
Do you have a 2-3 minute true story that you’d like to share? A proposal story? A break up story? A furry friend love story? We invite festival artists and audience members to submit a short true audio story via our online form. Selected pieces will then feature in an audio walk around Galway City this year (which can also be experienced from around the world via the website).
Selected pieces will receive M&B Festival Event Tickets/Festival Surprises. 
Anonymous Submissions also accepted.

Moth & Butterfly Present:
Moth & Butterfly – On The Road Again – Live from The Glens 
An extended and jam packed version of the Monthly night of storytelling and improvisation. The event will feature a cornucopia of true, folk and improvised tales.  Join the crew and very special guests for a hybrid session with live local tellers in Ballyeamon Barn, Co. Antrim, joined digitally by tellers and performers from over the world. Check in via the live chat and tell us where you are listening from!  Tellers include: Rebecca Mann, Jackie Roantree, Órla Mc Govern, Jonathan Pitts, Niceol Blue, Colin Urwin, Maria Gillen, Masako Carey, Catherine Brophy, Máirín Mhic Lochalinn and Liz Weir. Saturday 5th of February – 2-4pm:

Story Theatre & Narration – A Storytelling & Improvisation workshop.
Hosted by master-level instructor Jonathan Pitts from Chicago.
Paul Sill’s ‘Story Theater’ (Broadway/Off-Broadway) combines storytelling, theatre and Viola Spolin’s Improv Games, to create an exciting format.
Story Theatre’s narrative style features the tellers/improvisors narrating for themselves and for other characters. In this workshop, participants will play with the moments that bring stories to life, as well explore techniques that strengthen our sense of improvisation, spontaneity and play.
This workshop is a good fit for actors/improvisors and storytellers/explorers.
Experience Level:  beginner to advanced.
2-4pm. Online event. 18+

The Ballyeamon Barn Sessions – with guests from Moth & Butterfly
You’re invited by the inimitable storyteller Liz Weir, to her regular Saturday community session held in the beautiful Glens of Antrim. The night features stories, songs, poetry, and whatever you’re having yourself.  The Moth & Butterfly crew are thrilled to collaborate, and will be joining in, along with voices from every corner of the globe. We look forward to a delightful night of stories, craic and camaraderie – we would love to see you there! Hybrid Event.
